Destiny (cont.)

The Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee was a very active committee who stood for what they believed in and equality was their focus for blacks. They did whatever it took while using nonviolence. Racism still exists today and the SNCC would be helpful in downplaying violence while achieving justice.

· Jena 6 would be an involvement for the SNCC. It had blacks everywhere wanting to fight for those black students but the SNCC would step in and help without the violence. Sit-ins would be formed in Jena Louisiana especially at the college.

· Based on Uniform Crime Report Investigation, black people are often the most victims of race related crimes. The SNCC would step in and stand up for those victims whether it involved marches, sit-ins, freedom rides, boycotts and so on.

· SNCC would be involved in voter registrations now especially with the last election due to there being a first black president.

· SNCC would be a more diverse committee. It wouldn’t just stand for blacks. It would work for whites as well like it did before

· SNCC provided opportunities for women and marked the beginning of 2nd-wave feminism; therefore, not only would they be involved in the election for Obama, they may be involved for Clinton too since she was a woman running for presidency.

· They would sponsor programs to teach young children to read and learn about their civil rights at an early age in order to help them discover who they are and become knowledgeable.
